About Crop Video
Cut away black bars, watermarks at the edge or anything outside the part you want. Drag a box on a frame of the video, or pick 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9, and the whole video is cropped to it. Cropping runs in your browser.
How Crop Video works
Crop Video shows a still of the video with a crop box on it. Drag the box or pick a shape — 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9 — and FFmpeg's crop filter keeps exactly that part of every frame. The sound is copied as it is and the picture is re-encoded as H.264.
Play the video and click Use this frame to place the box on another moment, for example to check that a moving subject stays inside it. Cropping runs in your browser.
When to use Crop Video
- Remove black bars around a video.
- Cut a vertical 9:16 clip out of a landscape video for Reels or Shorts.
- Crop out a logo, timestamp or clutter at the edge of the frame.
- Focus on one person in a group video.
How to use Crop Video
- Add your video. Drop the video into the box above; a still appears with a crop box.
- Place the box. Drag and resize it, or pick a shape. Use this frame updates the still to the current moment.

Frequently asked questions
Does cropping reduce quality?
The kept area keeps its full resolution; it is re-encoded once at high quality. To make the result a standard size such as 1080 × 1920, use Resize Video afterwards.
Is my video uploaded?
No. It is cropped in your browser.
Is Crop Video free?
Yes. Crop Video on DocEpic is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it. The site is supported by ads.
Are my files safe with Crop Video?
Yes. Crop Video runs entirely in your web browser, so your files never leave your device and are never uploaded to us.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Crop Video works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 1024 MB are accepted. Because the work happens on your device, very large files depend on your device's memory.
