About QR Code Scanner
Read a QR code from a photo or screenshot, or point your camera at it. The scanner shows what the code contains — a link, UPI payment details, a Wi-Fi password, a contact — in full, so you can check a link before opening it. Scanning happens on your device.
How QR Code Scanner works
QR Code Scanner reads QR codes in pictures with your browser's built-in barcode detector where it has one (Chrome on Android and many desktops), and with jsQR, an open-source reader, everywhere else. Large photos are also tried at a smaller size, which often helps with blurry or noisy pictures.
With Scan with camera, the camera's picture is checked a few times a second until a code is found. The result is explained: a link is shown in full with an Open button, a UPI code shows the UPI ID, name and amount, a Wi-Fi code shows the network and password, and a contact card shows the name and number.
When to use QR Code Scanner
- Read a QR code that someone sent you as a screenshot or photo.
- Get the Wi-Fi password out of a Wi-Fi QR code.
- See where a QR code leads before you open it, to avoid scam links.
- Check a UPI QR's payee name and ID before paying.

Tips
Frequently asked questions
How do I scan a QR code that is on my own phone's screen?
Take a screenshot of it and upload the screenshot here. The code is read from the picture, so you don't need a second phone.
Can it read barcodes too?
This tool reads QR codes only.
Why was no QR code found?
The picture may be too blurry or too small, or part of the code may be missing. Take a closer, sharper photo with the whole code in view.
Are my pictures uploaded?
No. Codes are read in your browser and the camera picture never leaves your device.
Is QR Code Scanner free?
Yes. QR Code Scanner on DocEpic is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it. The site is supported by ads.
Are my files safe with QR Code Scanner?
Yes. QR Code Scanner runs entirely in your web browser, so your files never leave your device and are never uploaded to us.
Do I need to install any software?
No. QR Code Scanner works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 25 MB are accepted. Because the work happens on your device, very large files depend on your device's memory.
