About Compress PDF to KB
Make a PDF fit an upload limit — 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, 1 MB or a size you type. Normal compression is tried first, keeping text sharp and selectable; only if that isn't enough are the pages turned into pictures at the highest quality that fits, optionally in black and white.
How Compress PDF to KB works
Compress PDF to KB works in two stages. First the PDF is compressed on our server with Ghostscript at the Recommended level and, if needed, the Extreme level — the same engine as Compress PDF, which keeps text and drawings sharp and selectable. The file is deleted from the server as soon as the result is sent back.
If the file is still above your limit, the pages are redrawn in your browser as JPEG pictures, and the tool searches for the resolution and quality that fill the limit as closely as possible without going over. Black and white makes text documents about half the size at the same sharpness. Each page keeps its original paper size.

Frequently asked questions
Will my PDF still have selectable text?
Yes, when normal compression reaches the size. If the pages have to be turned into pictures, the text is no longer selectable — the result screen tells you which happened.
Why did my PDF lose its selectable text?
Normal compression wasn't enough to reach your size, so the pages were turned into pictures. Choose a larger size if the portal allows, to keep the text.
Is my PDF stored?
No. The server copy is deleted right after compression, and the picture stage runs in your browser.
Is Compress PDF to KB free?
Yes. Compress PDF to KB on DocEpic is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it. The site is supported by ads.
Are my files safe with Compress PDF to KB?
Yes. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, converted in a private temporary folder on our server and deleted as soon as the result is sent back. We don't keep copies and don't look at your documents.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Compress PDF to KB works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 100 MB each can be processed.
