About Resize Video
Change a video's shape for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and Stories (9:16), square and portrait posts (1:1, 4:5) or YouTube (16:9). The whole video stays visible on a blurred copy of itself or on coloured bars — or fills the frame with the edges cropped. In your browser, at 1080p or a faster 720p.
How Resize Video works
Resize Video makes a new frame of the shape you choose — 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9 — at 1080p or 720p, and fits your video into it with FFmpeg. With Blurred background, a softened copy of the video fills the empty space behind the full picture, the look used on Reels and Shorts. With Colour bars the space is plain, and with Fill and crop the video covers the frame and the edges are cut off.
The result is an MP4 (H.264 with AAC sound) that every platform accepts. It is made in your browser, so the video is never uploaded.
When to use Resize Video
- Post a landscape video as an Instagram Reel or YouTube Short without cutting anything off.
- Turn a vertical phone video into a 16:9 video for YouTube.
- Make a square or 4:5 version for an Instagram or Facebook post.

Frequently asked questions
Will my video be stretched?
Never. Blurred background and colour bars keep the whole picture; Fill and crop fills the frame and cuts the edges instead.
How long does it take?
The video is re-encoded in your browser: a 1-minute clip takes one to a few minutes on a laptop, longer on a phone. Choose 720p to halve the time.
Is my video uploaded?
No. It is resized in your browser.
Is Resize Video free?
Yes. Resize Video on DocEpic is free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it. The site is supported by ads.
Are my files safe with Resize Video?
Yes. Resize Video runs entirely in your web browser, so your files never leave your device and are never uploaded to us.
Do I need to install any software?
No. Resize Video works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone.
Is there a file size limit?
Files up to 1024 MB are accepted. Because the work happens on your device, very large files depend on your device's memory.
